I'm talking about Some Enchanted Evening, from Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific.
It is a gorgeous, romantic and popular song, I should have known that, but to tell you the truth I didn't know a thing about this song and this musical until two day ago, when I finally received the cd I won on Ebay two weeks ago ( but it's another story and you may not want to hear it :P )
Anyway, the cd is " Broadway in Concert" by James Barbour and Hershey Felder ( It's autographed too!! but I found out that some tracks are missing, so I have to buy the other version of the cd, with Jellicle Song and Rapsody in Blue...and I will do it! - someday, I first need to reload my poor card with no more credit -_- )
Back to the song, it is in the cd ( what a surprise, isn't it?) but it's not the romantic, inspired song you may think to hear, but a very hilarious version sung by the artists themselves ( I love mr. Felder's Falsetto, lol!) involving the audience to sing along ( You are the South Pacificians! Chorus!)
I just love it and now I can't stop singing it wherever and whenever I can!
I heard the original version of Some Enchanted Evening sung by Ezio Pinza and Mary Martin and just fell in love with it...I think I will have to include Natalie Forbush to my very private and prestigious ( just kidding) wish-list of roles I will manage ( still don't know how) to play on stage one day! :)
Some enchanted evening
You may see a stranger,
you may see a stranger
Across a crowded room
And somehow you know,
You know even then
That somewhere you'll see her
Again and again.
Some enchanted evening
Someone may be laughin',
You may hear her laughin'
Across a crowded room
And night after night,
As strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter
Will sing in your dreams.
Who can explain it?
Who can tell you why?
Fools give you reasons,
Wise men never try.
Some enchanted evening
When you find your true love,
When you feel her call you
Across a crowded room,
Then fly to her side,
And make her your own
For all through your life you
May dream all alone.
Once you have found her,
Never let her go.
Once you have found her,
Never let her go!
